The story  revolves around her exorcism by the Juist priest ‘Father Damien Karras’, who has lost his faith after the death of his mother.   3. The Amityville Horror by  Jay Anson, is a horror novel, which came out in 1977. The novel is said to be based on real paranormal experiences of the Lutz family. The story goes on like this- On November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed six members of his family at his home in Amityville in New York. In December 1975, right after 13 months of the murders, George and Kathy Lutz moved to the house with their three children. It is after a series of horrific experiences, that they came to believe the house was haunted. The story is quite intriguing, and is sure to keep you glued to the book. It’s a must try!

  4. Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin– This is a horror novel, that came out in 1968, and is one the best selling horror novel of the 60’s. The story is about a young women, Rosemary Woodhouse, who has recently shifted to an apartment in New York with her husband Guy. Soon, they got acquainted with their neighbours, Minnie and Roman Castevet, an elderly couple. She finds them quite eerie. She soon finds out that they actually intend to steal her ’to be born baby’. The book is quite intriguing, and is a must buy for all the horror genre fans.

  5. Ghost Story by Peter Straub– is quite an interesting novel of the horror genre. It came out in January 1979. The story is about five men, who have been lifelong good friends, and in their old age they use to come together, and discuss and share horror stories with each other. In between all this, one of them died, and the story starts to build up. This is a must for all horror genre lovers.

  6. Dracula by Bram Stoker – is a gothic horror book which came out in 1897. This book is famous for the character of the vampire Count Dracula. The book covers the story of Dracula’s effort to move from Transylvania to England. The book portrays the numerous fights that happened between Dracula, and the group of men and women led by Abraham Ven Helsing.  The book is a mix of horror, and fantasy, and, can be given a try for a good experience.

  7. A Head Full Of Ghosts  by Paul Tremblay– came out in 2015. This book is about  an American family, who recently learnt that their  daughter, Marjorie Barrett, has mental sickness. The story is told from the point of view of Merry, her younger sister,  when she is just 8 years old , and sometimes the perspective of the story turns to when Merry is an old. With a gripping plot, the book is sure to give you goosebumps.

  8. The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris– This book is one of the best of horrific genre. This book portrays Dr Hannibal Lectre, a cannibalistic serial killer, and an FBI agent, Clarice Starling. Clarice is a special agent who is taking help of Dr. Hannibal Lectre, to solve a case because  Hannibal apparently, who was a psychologist in the past. The novel is quite grippling, and deserves a mention, and a read too.

  9. World War Z by Max Brooks– came out in 2006. This is quite a great novel which is based on apocalyptic horror genre.  This is a great novel if you are into Zombie horror genre. Give it a try for sure.

  10. The Haunting Of Hill House  by Shirley Jackson– This novel came out in 1959. The story plot goes like this- Hill House is an eighty-year-old mansion in an unknown location. The story revolves around: Dr. John Montague, a supernatural investigator; Eleanor Vance, a  young woman; Theodora, an artist; and Luke Sanderson, the heir to Hill House, who is the host. The story starts with Dr. John, who rents the house to prove the existence of the supernatural, and Eleanor and Theodora came to live in the house on the invited of John. Soon they realize the existence of  the supernatural. With its twists and turns, the novel is great buy for  the horror genre lovers. Give it a try for sure.
