Cryptography and Security (WIND)

Cryptography and Security explores the basic fundamentals of cryptography and security, and throughout the book the focus is maintained on these two subjects. It is divided into three parts. The first part discusses cryptography and covers various related topics. These are number theory and algebra, classical cryptography, modern cryptography, private-key and public-key cryptography, stream ciphers, and hashing, authentication, and signature schemes. The second part explores network security and its related issues such as authentication, e-mail security, web security, and internet protocol security. And finally, the last section of the book is about system security. Here, the readers can understand the workings of intruders, viruses and worms, firewall, and trusted systems. The book teaches how various security issues can be resolved by using the methods described in the book. Dr. T. R. Padmanabhan works as a professor Emeritus at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore. He is also a senior member of IEEE, IETE, and Fellow of Institution of Engineers. Before doing research and development for private companies for several years, he used to teach at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He has authored several books till date for leading publishing houses including Springer Verlag, Tata McGraw-Hill, and Wiley. C. K. Shyamala works as an assistant professor in the CSE department at Amrita School of Engineering in Coimbatore. At present, she is pursuing her PhD and has been teaching at both UG and PG levels for more than 10 years. N Harini works as an assistant professor in the Computer Science (CSE) department at Amrita School of Engineering in Coimbatore. She has taught both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students for more than 11 years.
